Nourish International Keynote Delivered by Kiva.org Founder

2009 August 6

Those readers of college age, especially in the Research Triangle Park have probably heard of Nourish International. For those readers in the post-college world who have not, Nourish International is a great organization based on the principle of spreading entrepreneurship to end poverty, hunger, and economic instability. Because we at EvoApp believe in helping the spread of sustainable entrepreneurship, especially in developing nations, we have been partners with Nourish for several months now, helping them build their technology infrastructure by leveraging EvoApp. They are a fantastic organization, and if nothing else, you should check out their website here: www.nourishinternational.com and their awesome YouTube video featuring their technical director Bryon Zandt.

If you have any familiarity with the microfinance industry, you have probably of peer to peer MFI Kiva.org. Like Nourish, Kiva.org aims to increase economic stability and success in developing countries by fostering entrepreneurship. The parallels between these two great organizations are obvious, and I’ve been exploring the idea of P2P lending for the last couple months, so I was definitely interested to hear this news.

For those of you who don’t already know, Nourish will be bringing Kiva.org co-founder Jessica Jackley to Chapel Hill for the Keynote of their Summer Institute this Sunday. We hope that those of you in the RTP area will do your best to make it out to the Global Education Center at UNC this Sunday at 6:00 PM to hear her speak about how micro-finance and peer to peer lending is changing the face of entrepreneurship worldwide.

Please join me and the rest of the EvoApp team in supporting this great organization. Even if you can’t come in person, why not donate a couple bucks to help support their great work.
